The #2minutebeachclean is run by The Beach Clean Network Limited, a not for profit organisation to encourage beach cleaning after a series of brutal North Atlantic storms left beaches all over the UK littered with marine plastics. The initiative utilises Twitter and Instagram to inspire others to pick up litter on their beaches for just 2 minutes at a time and to post their cleans with the hashtag 2minutebeachclean. The movement has now extended to #2minutestreetclean and #2minutelitterpick to encompass inland cleaning efforts. Monies raised will help fund beach, litter and street cleaning boards.
Society is defined not by what it creates, but by what it refuses to destroy.
